Frozen Donner Lake 1-18-07

While driving to work this morning, I noticed that someone had taken out the bottom of a stairway along Donner Pass Road.

bubble below the surface of the ice...This shows that the water level has dropped since the Lake first froze earlier in the month...A rock that was put out onto the ice and it has melted into the ice from the sun's heating...Rope on the bottom that used to hold a bouy before the ice came.

The body of George Sommerdorf, Jr., of Sacramento, was recovered on Saturday, January 27.
